The Genius of the Artist-Mind with painter and art historian John Paul Thornton was part of the 92Y’s 7 Days of Genius.
On March 9, 2016, in Los Angeles, California, more than 300 people attended American Jewish University’s Whizin Center where popular lecturer John Paul Thornton discussed several of the greatest master-artists in history, including Rembrandt, Leonardo, Botticelli, Vermeer, O’Keefe and Picasso. These artistic geniuses embedded into their work a language of hidden imagery and sacred meaning. Thornton identified and exposed these secret lessons which enabled these masterpieces to more greatly impact our emotions, reach into our subconscious and provoke us to think as geniuses ourselves. As one of the participants commented after the lecture concluded: “I’ll never look at a painting the same way. Even though I had seen these works many times, I now appreciate the artistry of these geniuses more deeply. John Paul is a master teacher.”
Thank you to the Whizin Center for joining 92Y once again for 7 Days of Genius.
