This week has been filled with nothing but enjoyable and informative activities for Group 28! We started off the week showing off our best smiles when taking our group picture during Picture Day, and then got to showcase our creativity when making bracelets at Jewelry Making. On Tuesday, we had Gymnastics for the first time this summer! We engaged in a challenging obstacle course where we not only had fun, but also got the blood pumping through our whole body! Later that day, we had Filmmaking where we got to see the finished product of the green-screen skits we did last week. We also started a new documentary project that is still in the making! On Wednesday, Group 28 put their brains to the test during the Coding activity. It was also our first Wacky Wednesday of the summer! The theme was story book characters and many counselors and campers can be seen dressed as characters from the Three Little Pigs, Harry Potter, the Magic Tree House, and many more! Unit 3 also participated in various Wacky Wednesday events. For one event, the whole Unit was split into 2 groups, the red team and the blue team, and competed against each other in a game show that consisted of many challenges such as tug of war, a hula-hoop contest, and a questionnaire! The first Wacky Wednesday was a successful spearhead to all the upcoming Wednesdays this summer. On Thursday, we headed to the garden where we got to see all the plants that are currently growing by the day. Nonetheless, we can never forget about… SWIM! Not only do we cool off in the pool, we also are becoming better swimmers every day during our Instructional Swim where the lifeguards teach us the fundamentals of swimming. Group 28 is excited for what’s to come next week, including the Carnival on Wednesday and Unit 3’s overnight on Thursday! The summer is just getting started!
Our beautiful campgrounds have over 50 acres of grass, courts, and fields to play on. With over 12 active activities, our campers are sure to get in the game! Our sports activities are coached by professional sports organizations and instructors such as; The Baseball Center, Tennis Innovators, and Super Soccer Stars.
This week, Fly Yoga instructors coached campers on how to create stories using only body movements. Campers dribbled down the court at basketball, learning special reasoning on the court.
Unit 3 and 4 campers have the option of joining the weekly Sports Club activity for even more sports in their schedule. During Sports Club, campers enhance their skills, receive extra practice time and specialized instruction.
Counselor of the Week
Every week we choose an extraordinary staff member(s) from each unit who exemplifies all five of our camps’ core values. We look for someone who is compassionate, mindful, courageous, a leader, and most importantly an overall mensch! These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure smiling, laughter, and safe summer fun! These handful of super counselors get the esteemed honor of being Counselor of the Week.
