Week 2 Blog – Group 23

Group 23’s first full week of Camp held a ton of exciting activities and new events! This included staying cool in the pool and sprinklers, having picture day, having our first wacky Wednesday, and of course, our Parent Night, all being the highlights of our week, along with welcoming a few new friends into our group!  During our Parent Night, we had the opportunity to have time to meet all of Group 23’s families and engage in exciting tennis games.  Leading into Camp Yomi’s first Wacky Wednesday of the summer, we participated in activities and games based on our favorite storybook characters.  For example, we built sturdy houses that the Big Bad Wolf wouldn’t be able to knock down and helped Little Red Riding Hood find her way to her grandmother’s house through an obstacle course.  The rest of the week was spent learning and trying new things, from dance exercises in Zumba to climbing the rock wall.  We hope everyone in Group 23 had a great Parent night while we look forward to the upcoming week, especially our first overnight!

Our beautiful campgrounds have over 50 acres of grass, courts, and fields to play on. With over 12 active activities, our campers are sure to get in the game! Our sports activities are coached by professional sports organizations and instructors such as; The Baseball Center, Tennis Innovators, and Super Soccer Stars.

This week, Fly Yoga instructors coached campers on how to create stories using only body movements. Campers dribbled down the court at basketball, learning special reasoning on the court.

Unit 3 and 4 campers have the option of joining the weekly Sports Club activity for even more sports in their schedule. During Sports Club, campers enhance their skills, receive extra practice time and specialized instruction.

Counselor of the Week

Every week we choose an extraordinary staff member(s) from each unit who exemplifies all five of our camps’ core values. We look for someone who is compassionate, mindful, courageous, a leader, and most importantly an overall mensch! These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure smiling, laughter, and safe summer fun! These handful of super counselors get the esteemed honor of being Counselor of the Week.
