Week 1B Blog – Group 26

The Terrific Taxis zoomed into their second week of camp! We started our week of in gardening where we all grew some green thumbs and learned all about the incredible plants Yomi has to offer. From there, we headed to swim where we splashed and played! We wished we could stay there all day, but we headed to gymnastics where we had a ball doing an obstacle course. We ended our day with our very fun electives and went home with smiles stuck to our faces! We started off Tuesday with nature where we learned all about the trees on our beautiful campgrounds. Then, swim came around again and the taxis suddenly grew some gills! After that, we had a great lunch and then went to arts and crafts where the taxis made some incredible self portraits. And, when the rain came around, we still had a ball in the shelter making lanyard, drawing and cheering! We ended our day with smiles as we headed to our buses. On Wednesday, we missed Camp, but were happy to celebrate July fourth! On Thursday, we bounced back to camp with zeal! We started off our day with ceramics where we made either a turtle or a dinosaur! They looked so good and we had a whole lot of fun! Then, we headed to swim where we had a ball, as always. We then had Jewish culture where we learned a new song and heard a great story! We ended our day with our incredible Yomi electives and went home excited for the next day of Camp. On Friday, we started off with a camp wide Shabbat and had a whole ton of fun! We all danced and sang and, also celebrated our incredible second week at camp. We went home with smiles glued to our faces and incredibly excited for the next week of camp. We hope that you all have an incredible weekend and we’ll see you next week!

It has been such a hot summer so far and we can’t wait to dive into even more summer fun at the pool! We started instructional swim this week and look forward to helping your camper build on their skills in the coming weeks.

Just as a reminder, each day campers have a free and instructional swim period. Campers receive swim instruction from American Red Cross Certified lifeguards and instructors. After each camper is evaluated on their swim skills, they are placed into their appropriate swim groups with respective bracelet color.

The swim levels are:

Blue: Wader, Splasher, and Guppy

Orange: Tadpole, Minnow, and Goldfish

Red: Catfish, Dolphin, Marlin, Barracuda, Shark, and Killer Whale

To get more information on the objectives of each swim level, please check out the document section located on the left side of your parent portal www.92y.org/mycamp. The levels are listed under “Swim Information 2018”.

If you have any specific questions about swim, feel free to email Nina, Swim Director, at CampSwim@92y.org or leave a voicemail at 212.415.5643 ext. 3
