This week was a total blast for the Soaring Falcons as we conquered the high ropes, swung our way through tennis, jumped our way through gymnastics, and had so much fun at our last Carnival for the summer! We even had a group pet caterpillar for a while named Beast! Even though there is only one week left of camp, we want this summer to last forever. We have created and cherished a countless number of great times and memories that will last a lifetime!
This week was packed with so many awesome activities, and some not so awesome rain, but we still managed to have fun. On Monday, the Soaring Falcons got to help paint the brand new mural on the arts and crafts building. Our brightly painted fruits and vegetables will live on forever in Yomi history! On Tuesday, we had music with Nelson, where we all became incredible songwriters. Then we had a practice session for our upcoming performance of This Is Me. The group worked so well together that the next day we won the Yomi Bear award for our super spirit! On Thursday we got to experience our second overnight, and once again we missed some of our friends who got to sleep in their nice warm beds. We watched Coco, ate s’mores, and had a silent disco! We loved the silent disco so much that we had another one for everyone on Friday!
We kicked the week off with some showers on Monday, so we stayed in the shelter and had music with Nelson. We got to sing and cheer along to all of Unit 4’s favorite songs and played some games. The rain then went away and we ended the day with some ceramics. Then on Tuesday we kicked the day off with our filmmaking class, bringing out cinematic dreams to life. On Wednesday we danced the rain away with yomi bear and friends in the hotel to stay dry from the rain. We wrapped our day up with making slime in the unit shelter. We made slime from using eye drops, baking soda, and glue. Then on Thursday we wrapped the week up with yomi idol preparation. Our yomi idol song of choice will be This is Me from the movie “The Greatest Showman”. Stay tuned for The Soaring Falcons yomi idol performance next week !
Newsletter: Bus of the Week!
Have you ever wondered what it is like to ride a bus to camp? You should ask one of the buses that recently won bus of the week. Bus of the week can be earned for many different reasons, some of which include: being spirited, being organized, having fun, being friendly, and inclusive. Our “spies” ride the buses each week looking out for all of these different things. On Fridays at dismissal it is tradition that Yomi Bear appears at camp and helps announce the bus of the week winners. If your camper’s bus wins Bus of the Week, make sure to congratulate them – it’s a big deal in our world!
This week was a total blast for the Soaring Falcons as we kicked it off with soccer on Monday. Then we had baseball, followed up by the awesome Carnival where we went in the bouncy house, and munched on cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones! Brrrrrr!! After that, we made awesome necklaces at Jewelry making and ended the week with a flight down the zip line. Although the summer is almost halfway done, there are many more fun filled weeks to come for the Soaring Falcons!
This week was filled with lots of first, the main one being the first full week of camp. It was tons of fun, with activities like basketball, ceramics, gymnastics, and many more!
There was the first Wacky Wednesday, whose theme was Story Book, which made for lots of cool costumes and a game show event after lunch. Later that day, we won the story book scavenger hunt by being the first group to find all of the parts of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
On Thursday was the much awaited first overnight. We missed some of our friends who went home early, but we’re sure they were cozy in their nice warm beds. Those of us who stayed at camp had an awesome time finding every color in color chase, roasting marshmallows, and telling some both spooky and funny stories by the campfire. Then on Friday, we all rose bright and early to go for an extra swim.
All these firsts have us looking forward to every second, third, and fourth for the coming Summer!
“Actives” at Camp
Our beautiful campgrounds have over 50 acres of grass, courts, and fields to play on. With over 12 active activities, our campers are sure to get in the game! Our sports activities are coached by professional sports organizations and instructors such as; The Baseball Center, Tennis Innovators, and Super Soccer Stars.
This week, Fly Yoga instructors coached campers on how to create stories using only body movements. Campers dribbled down the court at basketball, learning special reasoning on the court.
Unit 3 and 4 campers have the option of joining the weekly Sports Club activity for even more sports in their schedule. During Sports Club, campers enhance their skills, receive extra practice time and specialized instruction.
Week One B
This week at camp was a blast as we kicked the week off with our first instructional swim sessions. Then on Tuesday we played baseball hitting home runs in the early morning and wrapping the day up with our Yomi-Lectives. Although it rained and thundered during Yomi-Lectives, our Soaring Falcons kept good spirits in the Unit 4 shelter cheering their loudest. After the Fourth of July, our Soaring Falcons began the day with awesome Yoga in the morning and finished the day with a Zumba class to dance away the day.
Its been such a hot summer so far, we can’t wait to dive into even more summer fun at the pool! We started instructional swim this week and look forward to helping your camper build on their skills in the coming weeks.
Just as a reminder, each day campers have a free and instructional swim period. Campers receive swim instruction from American Red Cross Certified lifeguards and instructors. After each camper is evaluated on their swim skills, they are placed into their appropriate swim groups with respective bracelet color.
The swim levels are:

Our first day at camp was a total blast as we splashed our way in the pool! Even in the rain! Then we climbed all the way up to some fun on the rock wall. Then on Thursday, we kicked off an awesome week at camp by playing Gaga, and ending the day with all of our superstar campers scoring big in soccer! This is however just the beginning to the best summer ever at Camp Yomi as Group 31, the Soaring Falcons!
