G29 started the week off by learning how to make robots move in Lego robotics, and after lunch,
we scrimmaged in soccer. After free swim, G29 practiced their camera skills in filmmaking to
make a video. With the videos filmed, G29 headed off to floor hockey to play some games and
scrimmage. After picture day on Tuesday, we went off to play games in tennis before free swim.
The first wacky Wednesday of the summer started off with a storybook character theme. G29
went off to photography in our costumes and practiced taking birds eye and worm’s eye pictures.
After that, the wacky Wednesday activities begun with an entertainer who lead the campers (and
counselors!) in games and competitions. The fun activities continued with a scavenger hunt
where G29 searched for clues and parts of a story which were hidden all around camp. Once all
of the pieces were gathered, we put the story together and wrote one of our own. G29 started
Thursday off by learning how to juggle at circus arts, and later made flowers in outdoor
ceramics. The fun continued where we played games at pop fit kids and shot bullseyes at
archery. After an extra swim to start off the overnight, G29 continued the fun by playing color
chase as we ran around the campground collecting colors. The overnight finished off with a
game of jeopardy and then a campfire, complete with stories and s’mores. Friday started off with
an extra swim before G29 continued on to swim and then shabbat.
“Actives” at Camp
Our beautiful campgrounds have over 50 acres of grass, courts, and fields to play on. With over 12 active activities, our campers are sure to get in the game! Our sports activities are coached by professional sports organizations and instructors such as; The Baseball Center, Tennis Innovators, and Super Soccer Stars.
This week, Fly Yoga instructors coached campers on how to create stories using only body movements. Campers dribbled down the court at basketball, learning special reasoning on the court.
Unit 3 and 4 campers have the option of joining the weekly Sports Club activity for even more sports in their schedule. During Sports Club, campers enhance their skills, receive extra practice time and specialized instruction.
Counselor of the Week
Every week we choose an extraordinary staff member(s) from each unit who exemplifies all five of our camps’ core values. We look for someone who is compassionate, mindful, courageous, a leader, and most importantly an overall mensch! These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure smiling, laughter, and safe summer fun! These handful of super counselors get the esteemed honor of being Counselor of the Week.
