On March 8, Hamqadam Youth Participation for Empowerment (HYPE) along with eighteen young activists came together to discuss the 7 Days of Genius challenge of ensuring human rights and an equitable world. The group identified current issues that hindered women’s empowerment in their community in Pakistan and together, discussed ways to resolve these hurdles by creating solutions using art.
Some of the ideas that transpired were: using social media to amplify leaders in women’s empowerment, putting women in positions of power in universities and schools specifically for youth education, generating a theater group to explore themes and stories about women’s empowerment, producing a film documentary to represent women with disabilities, and capacity building for boys to teach them about protecting women and girls.
Thank you to HYPE organizer Muhammad Sarim Imran.
