What a jam packed week we had! We started off with a nice ball game by the beach and we even got free hats! Then we trekked to Club Getaway for the rest of the week where we swam, danced, rock climbed, bungee jumped, and even tried trapeze! Campers defied gravity on many ropes activities and enjoyed staying in beautiful Kent, Ct all week! Club Getaway was a great way to end session A and even though we are sad to see some friends leave, we are excited to make new friends and next weeks agenda!
NOTE: Monday’s trip is no longer at the Ice House, but Liberty Science Center and Chocolate Works!
Our first official first week of camp was a hit! The week began with a cool trip to Jacob Riis Beach where almost all of the campers and counselors were in the water the whole day and then continued our majors on Tuesday. Wednesday we rocked our very first late night of the season at Six Flags! Lines were fairly short and the weather was just right! On Thursday we went back to our childhood days for some campers and enjoyed a reminiscent day at Yomi! To close out the week we headed to the Bronx Zoo to see some animal friends! We are sad to see some friends go for the summer but we are excited for a new adventure next week at Club Getaway!

TB Week 3
The rest of week 1 was a blast! We started the week off by cooling down on a hot Monday at Splashdown Beach Waterpark and then got focused in our various majors on Tuesday. Design Lab even took a trip over the Cooper Hewitt museum where they learned all about innovative design! Thursday we embraced our inner tourist while we walked the Intrepid and completed a 44 question scavenger hunt, all created by our lovely counselors! We ended the week with a hardcore spaghetti tower challenge and roller skating/dance party! Hopefully next week will be even more fun as we have our first Six Flags trip of the summer!
Heads up for next week and packing list for Club Getaway:
TB Week 1
Club Getaway Packing List
Our first week of camp has been a tremendous success! New and returning campers are already building strong relationships with each other and truly making the most of the camp experience!
We started our week at Fireball Mountain with intense outdoor laser tag! Then we lucked out with beautiful weather at Country Fair, even though it was supposed to thunderstorm! Campers raced in go karts, went to batting cages, the driving range, enjoyed two mini-golf courses, bumped around in spinning bumper cars, and challenged each others high scores in the arcade. We ended the week with a fantastic trip to the Long Island Aquarium where we met Java, the incredibly talented sea lion, and then practiced swimming ourselves at the Y.
The first three days were so much fun that we are so excited for next week to begin! Check out the Trailblazers Times for next weeks agenda and list of what to bring!

Dear Trailblazers families,
My name is Matt Bloom and I’m so thrilled to be the Trailblazers director this summer! We are very excited for a fun filled summer. As our staff collaborates and prepares for the summer, we are eagerly awaiting the time when we get to meet all of you. Camp Trailblazers brings a sense of adventure and travel to camp, from white-water rafting to week-long trips to Club Getaway and in Boston!
This will be my ninth summer working at 92Y camps. In those nine years, I have worn many different hats. In the past I have worked as a Head Counselor at Camp Yomi. Some of our returning Trailblazer families might remember me from last year as the Assistant Director of Camp Trailblazers, and I’m so happy for the chance to spend my summer with you again. For those of you who are newcomers, I can’t wait to personally induct all of you into our Trailblazer family as camps gets underway! During the year once the summer has ended, I work as a Language Art teacher at a middle school in the Manhattan.
We encourage everyone to take a look at the parent portal, however, we would like you to keep these important dates in mind!
July 17th – 20th: Club Getaway
August 13th- 17th: Boston
Typically, on Wednesdays trips we will arrive back later than the normal camp day!
We look forward to meeting you at our Parent Information Session on Sunday, June 24th from 5:30-6:30 pm. If you have any questions or concerns prior to camp, we can be best reached by email at Trailblazers@92y.org. For any immediate questions feel free to contact the camp office as well at 212-415-5573.
We look forward to making this a memorable summer for our campers!
