As we’re getting close to our last week, Group 8 continues to have a blast at camp! We’ve accomplished so much this week. We started our week off with nature, exploring bugs and their habitats. We then played a traditional game of Ga-Ga that we always play at camp. Our fun flying squirrel activity had campers facing their fear of heights, and they all had so much fun! During the week we enjoyed some fun at outdoor ceramics making snails! Campers played against each other in soccer and baseball. We had a very fascinating session of Jewish culture where campers learned about giants and the land of Israel! On wacky Wednesday we had a fun carnival day where we played in a bouncy house and dunked our counselors in a dunk tank. Thursday we had some delicious and cold ice cream to cool us off in the heat. Friday, we had so much fun and broke a sweat at Zumba and gymnastics where we got to show off our favorite dance moves, and make our way through a challenging obstacle course. And of course, we ended our wonderful week with Shabbat! Have a great weekend!
The Super Starfish had an eventful week! On Monday, we scored some goals in soccer and practiced our awesome Yomi Idol dance. Then, we made stylish under-the-sea themed jewelry, and enjoyed circus arts along with a very special dinner at parent night! On Wednesday, we jammed out to “Goofy Goober Rock,” took home first place in the Unit 1 section of Yomi Idol, performed in front of the whole camp in the final round, and earned the Yomi bear award! Thursday was packed with fun as we made awesome shots in basketball, and learned about insects in nature! Late night was fantastic, and we had the best time dancing at the silent disco and making stuffed tigers! The group was all smiles, playing with each other and their counselors. We sang our favorite songs together at shabbat on Friday, and enjoyed yummy challah bread. We all left camp highly anticipating another fun week!
The Super Starfish enjoyed another week bubbling with laughter and excitement! The downcast weather couldn’t dampen our spirits! On Monday, when it started to rain, we got to take a special trip to a nearby hotel to watch the hilarious Disney classic Emperor’s New Groove before returning to camp to play some exhilarating games like “Fishy, Fishy, Cross My Ocean” during Free Swim. The next day, the group made some spectacular collages with variously shaped and colored material before scoring major goals against each other in games to practice tennis. Despite the rainfall on Wednesday, the Super Starfish helped make Yomi Bear’s Birthday Bash the best he’s ever had with some vibrantly decorated party hats and cards before proceeding to the hotel to have a dance party, complete with games of freeze dance and the Cotton Eye Joe, along with a very special storybook (Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss) read by Ivy! Next, Group 8 began practicing their insanely cool dance moves for Yomi Idol (we are rocking to “Goofy Goobers” from the Spongebob movie) before making some inventive posters about the landscape of Israel in Jewish Culture. We ended the week with a big celebration for Israel Day and a very lively Shabbat! We had such a great time this week and can’t wait to continue the fun next week! Have a wonderful weekend!
Have you ever wondered what it is like to ride a bus to camp? You should ask one of the buses that recently won bus of the week. Bus of the week can be earned for many different reasons, some of which include: being spirited, being organized, having fun, being friendly, and inclusive. Our “spies” ride the buses each week looking out for all of these different things. On Fridays at dismissal it is tradition that Yomi Bear appears at camp and helps announce the bus of the week winners. If your camper’s bus wins Bus of the Week, make sure to congratulate them – it’s a big deal in our world!
Hey, families! This week The Super Starfish had an amazing week 3 of Camp Yomi. We kicked off the blazing week with our hilarious Improv Laugh It Out activity which showcased our outstanding acting abilities. We got to find out our favorite animals, season, and sport by acting it out without talking! Tuesday, as a group, we played a successful game of baseball, and, to be honest, our group is full of future MLB players! Wacky Wednesday was utterly a blast for us, turning our campgrounds into a marvelous carnival!!! All of our campers enjoyed all the tasty snacks such as popcorn, cotton candy, and flavored ice cones while participating in carnival activities such as jumping in the big bouncy house, feeding an elephant, bag racing, receiving colorful tattoos, and ended the day with 2 new prizes!!! Thursday was kicked off by shooting some hoops during basketball and making jump shots like Stephen Curry! To see everyone celebrating for one another is just amazing, because everyone is coming together like a true camp family. This week was so much fun! We can’t wait to continue this great summer next week with all the fun activities we have lined up! Have a great weekend!
This week group 8 has a ton of fun! We learned how to shoot baskets in basketball and played a fierce game of Ga-Ga. On Tuesday, we sang some of our favorite songs at Music with Nelson and got some exercise at Pop Fit Kids! Wednesday was extra wacky this week, as we made puppets and dragon masks and completed a relay obstacle course as a group! We also learned about our campgrounds at nature and played some games of soccer! It was like the World Cup was taking place right next to Unit K! On Thursday, we got to roll like Olympic gymnasts in gymnastics and make desert-themed bracelets and necklaces in Jewelry Making. To wrap the week up we got to go to the sprinklers, which no one walked away from dry! We also got to celebrate Shabbat together, which is always a good time! Group 8 had such a good week and we’re really looking forward to the next one!
Our beautiful campgrounds have over 50 acres of grass, courts, and fields to play on. With over 12 active activities, our campers are sure to get in the game! Our sports activities are coached by professional sports organizations and instructors such as; The Baseball Center, Tennis Innovators, and Super Soccer Stars.
This week, Fly Yoga instructors coached campers on how to create stories using only body movements. Campers dribbled down the court at basketball, learning special reasoning on the court.
Unit 3 and 4 campers have the option of joining the weekly Sports Club activity for even more sports in their schedule. During Sports Club, campers enhance their skills, receive extra practice time and specialized instruction.
Counselor of the Week
Every week we choose an extraordinary staff member(s) from each unit who exemplifies all five of our camps’ core values. We look for someone who is compassionate, mindful, courageous, a leader, and most importantly an overall mensch! These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure smiling, laughter, and safe summer fun! These handful of super counselors get the esteemed honor of being Counselor of the Week.
The second week of camp was a huge success for the Super Starfish! On Monday, we started off with the daring activity of the Flying Squirrel, where campers faced their fear of heights and had a great time! We also played a competitive game of Gaga, and made some stylish jewelry! On Tuesday, the Super Starfish played a fun game of baseball and learned to balance feathers on their fingers during Circus Arts. The group got very artsy when drawing their own self portraits in arts & crafts. Thursday, the group very much enjoyed a game of basketball, some photography lessons, and also a fun game of soccer as well! Thursday was our late night, and we got to have an extra free swim, make oceans, and play under the sea games! Campers enjoyed a nice picnic on the field and a cheer-off to end our special day. On Friday, we all enjoyed Shabbat as a camp and then got to swim to round out the week! We hope all our group 8 friends have an awesome weekend, and we’re so excited for next week!

The Super Starfish’s first week at camp went swimmingly! On the first day of camp, we played ice-breakers to get to know each other, and made super fashionable baskets out of clay. We also explored the wonderful garden containing fresh veggies and mint leaves! The weather may have been questionable, but as one of the group’s favorite cheers goes, we B-E-A-T beat em! beat em! The group was all smiles in the pool, playing with each other and the counselors. We let our creativity shine through as we drew what we’d like to find underground, tried tasty apple nachos in cooking, and played relay games in pop-fit kids on Thursday! We also had so much fun dancing at Shabbat, and showing off our awesome skills at soccer! We all left camp highly anticipating another fun week!
