Blog: Week 3, Group 4

Group 4, The Rockin’ Raindrops, returned for the third week of camp with loads of energy and ready to have some fun! On Monday, we started off strong with learning dribbling skills at Basketball and laughing so hard in Improv. On Tuesday, we started the day off doing some cool exercises at Pop Fit Kids, and learning how to play the drums at Jewish Culture. Group 4 was so excited for our first carnival, and enjoyed our day that was filled with Wacky Wednesday fun, popcorn, games, cotton candy, bounce houses and snow cones! To help us save some energy for the rest of the week, we also had some fun relaxing activities like Ceramics and Painting & Drawing. On Friday, we had a blast dancing and singing at Shabbat, and then we got a special surprise production of “Annie” by Zoom-In Theater Camp. I don’t know about you, but after such a fun and exciting week, we are going to need to rest up for the next amazing week of camp!

“Actives” at Camp:

Our beautiful campgrounds have over 50 acres of grass, courts, and fields to play on. With over 12 active activities, our campers are sure to get in the game! Our sports activities are coached by professional sports organizations and instructors such as; The Baseball Center, Tennis Innovators, and Super Soccer Stars.

This week, Fly Yoga instructors coached campers on how to create stories using only body movements. Campers dribbled down the court at basketball, learning special reasoning on the court.

Unit 3 and 4 campers have the option of joining the weekly Sports Club activity for even more sports in their schedule. During Sports Club, campers enhance their skills, receive extra practice time and specialized instruction.

 Counselor of the Week

Every week we choose an extraordinary staff member(s) from each unit who exemplifies all five of our camps’ core values. We look for someone who is compassionate, mindful, courageous, a leader, and most importantly an overall mensch! These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure smiling, laughter, and safe summer fun! These handful of super counselors get the esteemed honor of being Counselor of the Week.

Group 4’s Rockin’ Raindrops had an amazing week! They especially had so much fun at our first Wacky Wednesday. Their amazing experience didn’t start just then, as we had so much fun on Monday painting and drawing, saw some incredible circus stunts at Circus Arts, and learned how to shoot hoops at Basketball. We can’t forget one of the most favorite part of our day: swimming! Campers learned new swim strokes at instructional swim and played with our friends splashing around afterwards. On Tuesday we had Zumba, where we danced to our group’s favorite tunes. We also hit the ball out of the park playing baseball and ended the day with a little workout at Pop Fit Kids. On Wednesday, the campers had so much fun with the special Wacky Wednesday activities, such as being a part of a silly game show! They especially enjoyed seeing their counselors dressed up as Goldilocks and the Three Bears. On Thursday, we tumbled through gymnastics and then showed our creativity at Photography. On Friday, we especially enjoyed the delicious grape juice and challah at Shabbat. We were so happy that the Rockin’ Raindrops had a fun filled and energetic day and are looking forward to the next week!

Its been such a hot summer so far, we can’t wait to dive into even more summer fun at the pool! We started instructional swim this week and look forward to helping your camper build on their skills in the coming weeks.

Just as a reminder, each day campers have a free and instructional swim period. Campers receive swim instruction from American Red Cross Certified lifeguards and instructors. The swim levels are:

The Rockin’ Raindrops had such a fun, busy week! We started the week running the bases in Baseball and then cooled off in the pool. Then, we meditated in Yoga under the refreshing shade of the “Yoga Tree”. In Arts & Crafts we got creative making self portraits and then we made special Red, White and Blue yogurt parfaits in Cooking to celebrate the Fourth of July! When we got back to camp on Thursday, we were so excited to get two turns on the mini zipline! The day got better as we had our Unit K Late Night, where we had a wonderful time making kites and completing a special Outer Space Obstacle Course. On Friday, we ended the week with a special camp-wide Shabbat and had so much fun jamming out to the Shabbatones with our counselors and friends.

Group 4 was super excited to start off our rockin’ summer with some getting to know you games on the Unit K field! Once we all got to meet our new summer friends, the Rockin’ Raindrops couldn’t wait to get in the pool! We practically swam like fishes even when it started to drizzle. After a delicious lunch, we danced like crazy at Zumba–we had so much fun we didn’t even break a sweat! Our next activity was improv, and it was super silly. We played a game called “Screenshot” and pretended to be things we find in pictures, like tall trees and sand at the beach! The next day we started making shooting stars to decorate the shelter. We absolutely loved Jamming at Music with Nelson, we sang so loud that the entire camp could hear us! We had so much fun at Shabbat, singing and dancing along to the Shabbatones and enjoying this special time with our counselors and new friends.
